He's so happy, and purry, furry. I love my Curly-Q..
Let's get a peaceful, easy Curly, instead (and, Vicki, the Eagles fan, needs our crossed fingers for a new job... she had a great interview, yesterday). He seems to love the burgandy sheet, for some reason. See, I pull this out when it gets colder, and sleep under two sheets, instead of just the one. Perfect warmth.
Just one disc ready for pickup... even today? Dang. And, it's Season 5, Disc 4! Disc 3 is still "in transit," as are the discs for all of Seasons 3 and 4.
I applied for a job, just now... and I best not link to it, for fear of scotching the deal, eh? :)
I have oodles of The Sopranos coming my way on DVD. For free.Ray Close, who served as the top CIA official in Saudi Arabia, has offered the following on the importance of the current NIE:
...
"A National Intelligence Estimate is just exactly what the title says it is. An NIE isn't issued every day. It sometimes takes weeks to write and coordinate. Even the decision to prepare an NIE in the first place is a painstaking one. It is a BIG DEAL, in other words. An NIE is not a single report from a single agency, but represents the considered judgment of the entire intelligence community (16 different agencies, in theory) on a subject deemed to be of vital significance to makers of national security and foreign policy.
If key members of Congress (like Majority Leader Bill Frist, who claimed ignorance of this report), and neither the House nor the Senate intelligence committees, have seen the document since it was produced in April, then we have to ask ourselves whether the White House and Congress take any serious interest in the most important products of America's enormous (and extremely expensive) intelligence empire. Are we to conclude that the "brains" of the United States Government (presumably those who formulate and carry out national policy) are simply not interested in making use of the best information and advice available to them? That seems to confirm the growing impression that policy is influenced today more by considerations of ideology and political expediency than by painstaking and objective study of the world situation."
I think this point needs to be made by every Democratic candidate between now and November 7th, at every opportunity. Hammer, hammer, hammer the obvious truth of this ("How serious IS the GOP about national security, if they don't know about an NIE produced more than five months ago?") at every opportunity.
Onion Station! Drinking Liberally in Gnashvegas is held just behind here, at a funky li'l place called Flying Saucer.
Lonely swings in the early morning hours. This is just west of the Richland Park library.
Gore's own beer is brewed here. Red Springs Ale. Perfection with hops! You can see one of the primary fermenters (the big stainless steel tank) in this photo.
The former home of Caterpillar Financial, on West End. I call this building "The Trivial Pursuit Building," 'cause it has the same shape and relative dimensions as one of the little plastic pie pieces used in the game.
Bad boys, bad boys... whatchagonna do when sugar-rum-bum come for you?*
And really, what better alarm clock is there than a cat who starts pawing at loose, metallic objects at 6:30 a.m., as soon as you stir, even once?
Ah, yes -- I remember when Nashville had a so-called liberal daily newspaper! It shuttered not long after I arrived here, though.
Nice.
One of the many photos in the Civil Rights collection room.
The Tennessee State Capitol, just up the hill from the library.
.
... in pixels! Let's get started.
Here's that bad muthafucka. Oh, but the inside is even badder than all that!
This is the main lobby. The ceiling looks like this:
Up on that second floor... um, whatchamacallit... there were some interesting exhibits of old cameras.
But the adventure was just beginning...
I just found out about this job (link FUBAR -- it's the Library Materials Processing Clerk position; that's a .doc file, btw) with the Nashville Public Library, and am gonna head there to apply for it this morning. I know -- it doesn't pay well, but I bet I'd love the shit out of it.
Magical Journey -- a new age shop that sells cool incense, neighboring Cafe Coco to the north, on Louise Street.
Jimmy Kelly's famouse steakhouse, also just north (and across the street) of Cafe Coco.
Not as good as Dr. Tingle in Morehead, KY, but here in Gnashvegas... could you beat the Bull brothers for dentistry?
Here comes my bus! Yay! This is one of the old, shitty busses, though. And it smells bad, quite unlike the newer ones. That building dominating the background to the right of the bus is the back side of U.S. HQ for Caterpillar Financial Services (it's right next door to Loew's Vanderbilt Plaza on West End). I have a buddy that works there as a "competitive intel" guy in their marketing department.
Rush hour going west on Charlotte Avenue, right about 45th Street. Gas is $2.419, here.
Broken Hearts Are For Assholes. Heh. Artwork by the jukepod. $350, and it can be yours! Btw, the reason I used the Zappa title? There's two little glass hearts on this piece, one at the center of the shattered plate.
A medical building, probably in some way associated with Baptist Hospital. Also seen from the "Back Stage" patio. I liked the clouds and colors, so...
The sign above the door to where I usually hang here at the Cafe Coco, since it has AC outlets aplenty.
The formal front dining room, heh. And yes, I asked about the "Now Hiring" notice on the door, but they only want experienced cooks and bartenders, and I am experienced at neither.
Hey, they'll bring the coffee to you! :)
