Such A Sweetie-Puss

He's so happy, and purry, furry. I love my Curly-Q.
.

Irony

I bet this page (heh -- I said "page") gets ganked and flushed down the memory hole in 5... 4... 3...

Thanks to Virginia, who doesn't have her own bloggie.
.

Enough Bald Belly!

Let's get a peaceful, easy Curly, instead (and, Vicki, the Eagles fan, needs our crossed fingers for a new job... she had a great interview, yesterday). He seems to love the burgandy sheet, for some reason. See, I pull this out when it gets colder, and sleep under two sheets, instead of just the one. Perfect warmth.

No need to freak out -- I don't like to sleep under tons of stuff. Besides, when it gets really cold in the condo, I'll fire up the very economical ceramic heater. I like having that near the CPAP machine, as it wards off "froze nose" syndrome. :)
.

Unflattering

Since Sandy-LA 90034 asked for a belly photo, and Ivytree is obsessed with Curly's weight, I thought I'd post this rather unflattering photo that I snapped this morning.

Well, I'm surprised the fur didn't grow back over the warm months. I guess Curly's got a mental illness, and needs kitty Prozac.

Good Day, Sunshine

My life sucks, but it's a beautiful day. Hey... it works for Republicans!

Bonus Midnight Curly

'Cause he's sooo fuckin' cute when he's playin' possum!
.

GOP: Soft On Child Molesters

You're goddamn right I said it.

Ten or eleven months they knew about this fucking pervert? What the FUCK?
.

Curly vs. Tetherbunny, Part XXIV

Yes, he's at it, again. He needs the exercise, though, so we do this pretty much every day.

AND DON'T FORGET -- You can get a DVD of all your favorite Curly action (see graphic at right). Only eight more, and I can make my overdue rent for September!
.

How Could That Be Comfortable?

My buddy Dave always called this pose, "playin' the fiddle."

It's The Day Of The Cat

Friday. Cat. Blogging.

C'mon, NPL!

Just one disc ready for pickup... even today? Dang. And, it's Season 5, Disc 4! Disc 3 is still "in transit," as are the discs for all of Seasons 3 and 4.

We're supposed to be getting big rain, but it's supposed to stop this afternoon. The NPL doesn't open until noon, today, so maybe this all plays into my hands. I don't even have bus fare, so I'll be hoofin' it. I'd rather make that trip for nine discs, rather than one, eh?

UPDATE: At 3:00, I went out to the car with the GWPDA Coalition notebook (there was no signal all day in the condo, perhaps due to the gutter truck in the lot, interfering in reflections), and lo and behold! The complete 4th season, and the last two discs of Season 5 were waiting for me. So, I hoofed it, since this branch is closed Fridays.
.

The Beast Awakens!

The Beast being me, of course. Curly was right beside the bed... and, lo and behold, now that I'm awake, he's crying for petting and feeding.

You Deserve More Curly

So, let's make it a sleepin' shot:

Yes -- he is laying on a remote. He doesn't care if it snows applebutter, this cat.
.

Have I No Shame?

I applied for a job, just now... and I best not link to it, for fear of scotching the deal, eh? :)

The belly of the beast... or the flea-bitten haunches of the GOP spin machine?

We report, you decide!

UPDATE: On the flip side, I also applied for this job, which sounds like a lot of fun. And, I kinda-sorta worked with them before, peripherally, in my previous life.
.

Pet Me, Dad!

Very insistent, he is.
.

I ♥ Nashville Public Library

I have oodles of The Sopranos coming my way on DVD. For free.

Well, that's not true. The 9.25% sales tax pays for this, but y'know...

All of Season Four, and the last two of Season Five are in transit, and will likely be ready for pickup tomorrow.

Oddly, there are a few holds on the earlier seasons... I'm like 36th in line for Season One, Disc One. The rest I'm like second or third in line. Not too shabby.

Fightin' Dems Need To Hammer This

Mr. Murder posted this elsewhere, and I am looking for a source; this post will be updated with a link to one, hopefully, later.
Ray Close, who served as the top CIA official in Saudi Arabia, has offered the following on the importance of the current NIE:
...

"A National Intelligence Estimate is just exactly what the title says it is. An NIE isn't issued every day. It sometimes takes weeks to write and coordinate. Even the decision to prepare an NIE in the first place is a painstaking one. It is a BIG DEAL, in other words. An NIE is not a single report from a single agency, but represents the considered judgment of the entire intelligence community (16 different agencies, in theory) on a subject deemed to be of vital significance to makers of national security and foreign policy.

If key members of Congress (like Majority Leader Bill Frist, who claimed ignorance of this report), and neither the House nor the Senate intelligence committees, have seen the document since it was produced in April, then we have to ask ourselves whether the White House and Congress take any serious interest in the most important products of America's enormous (and extremely expensive) intelligence empire. Are we to conclude that the "brains" of the United States Government (presumably those who formulate and carry out national policy) are simply not interested in making use of the best information and advice available to them? That seems to confirm the growing impression that policy is influenced today more by considerations of ideology and political expediency than by painstaking and objective study of the world situation."
I think this point needs to be made by every Democratic candidate between now and November 7th, at every opportunity. Hammer, hammer, hammer the obvious truth of this ("How serious IS the GOP about national security, if they don't know about an NIE produced more than five months ago?") at every opportunity.

UPDATE: Thanks again to Mr. Murder, I learn this is actually from a post by known puppy hater Larry Johnson.

Remaindered Pixels

I didn't really have any specific point in mind when I took these... they're just random shots from around town.

Onion Station! Drinking Liberally in Gnashvegas is held just behind here, at a funky li'l place called Flying Saucer.

Lonely swings in the early morning hours. This is just west of the Richland Park library.

Gore's own beer is brewed here. Red Springs Ale. Perfection with hops! You can see one of the primary fermenters (the big stainless steel tank) in this photo.

The former home of Caterpillar Financial, on West End. I call this building "The Trivial Pursuit Building," 'cause it has the same shape and relative dimensions as one of the little plastic pie pieces used in the game.

Bad boys, bad boys... whatchagonna do when sugar-rum-bum come for you?*

Best have your fucking liability insurance papers, citizen!

* Yes, I know those aren't the lyrics, but that's how I hear 'em.
.

It's Another Curly Morning

And really, what better alarm clock is there than a cat who starts pawing at loose, metallic objects at 6:30 a.m., as soon as you stir, even once?

Oh yeah -- he's obviously starving, even though there's a half-cup of food in his bowl. So that's what all the crying's about this morning!

He's a very good boy, but y'know? He still acts very much like a cat. I'm beginning to suspect that he may, in fact, be a cat.

More Gnashvegan Pixels, Part III

One of Nashville's more-recognizeable landmarks, the Bellsouth Tower (a/k/a "The Batman Building").

Looking south from 7th Avenue and almost Church.

The root of all Evil.

Let's hope this isn't in my future. :(

... nor working here (but hey, I'll take it!).

.

More Buttload, Part II

More old cameras at the Main Branch of the NPL.

Ah, yes -- I remember when Nashville had a so-called liberal daily newspaper! It shuttered not long after I arrived here, though.

Nice.

One of the many photos in the Civil Rights collection room.

The Tennessee State Capitol, just up the hill from the library.

.

CurlyBlurTongue

Early evening Curly, prior to the onslaught of more Gnashvegan pixels. NTodd would be so proud!
.

Amen

West End Church of Christ, this morning.
.

Metric Buttload of Gnashvegas

... in pixels! Let's get started.

My adventure started here, this morning -- at the Richland Park Branch of the Nashville Public Library. I don't know how many times I'll have to show up early on a Tuesday for it to sink in, but...

... it didn't matter anyway! I got an application for the job at the library's main branch, downtown, at Church and 6th Avenue. I would've had to come downtown to submit the app, anyway, at the Metro Guv building on 3rd Ave. North.

Here's that bad muthafucka. Oh, but the inside is even badder than all that!

This is the main lobby. The ceiling looks like this:

Up on that second floor... um, whatchamacallit... there were some interesting exhibits of old cameras.

But the adventure was just beginning...
.

Extra, Unpublicised Curly

In the sunny spot, just before I left. Of course, I forgot that the Richland Branch of the NPL doesn't open until noon on Tuesdays & Thursdays, so I'm now at the main library, downtown. I'll have some great photos, later of the visit.
.

Tuesday Morning Curly

Serving suggestions: Serve with coffee and croissant.
.

Whoo-Hoo!

I just found out about this job (link FUBAR -- it's the Library Materials Processing Clerk position; that's a .doc file, btw) with the Nashville Public Library, and am gonna head there to apply for it this morning. I know -- it doesn't pay well, but I bet I'd love the shit out of it.

Hey -- Even MORE Curly!

Why can't you let me be, Dad? Why?!?
.

Monday's Road Trip In Photos

Magical Journey -- a new age shop that sells cool incense, neighboring Cafe Coco to the north, on Louise Street.

Jimmy Kelly's famouse steakhouse, also just north (and across the street) of Cafe Coco.

Not as good as Dr. Tingle in Morehead, KY, but here in Gnashvegas... could you beat the Bull brothers for dentistry?

Here comes my bus! Yay! This is one of the old, shitty busses, though. And it smells bad, quite unlike the newer ones. That building dominating the background to the right of the bus is the back side of U.S. HQ for Caterpillar Financial Services (it's right next door to Loew's Vanderbilt Plaza on West End). I have a buddy that works there as a "competitive intel" guy in their marketing department.

Rush hour going west on Charlotte Avenue, right about 45th Street. Gas is $2.419, here.
.

Last Curly O' The Day

... unless condo radio penetration occurs this evening, which seems unlikely. So, enjoy!
.

Today's Coco Pixels

Broken Hearts Are For Assholes. Heh. Artwork by the jukepod. $350, and it can be yours! Btw, the reason I used the Zappa title? There's two little glass hearts on this piece, one at the center of the shattered plate.

A medical building, probably in some way associated with Baptist Hospital. Also seen from the "Back Stage" patio. I liked the clouds and colors, so...

The sign above the door to where I usually hang here at the Cafe Coco, since it has AC outlets aplenty.

The formal front dining room, heh. And yes, I asked about the "Now Hiring" notice on the door, but they only want experienced cooks and bartenders, and I am experienced at neither.

Hey, they'll bring the coffee to you! :)
