The Night's Final Curly

Ghod, I love this hacked firmware.

He's on the balcony, very near the open door, about 6' from a single, low-wattage twisty -- the ONLY current illumination in the room, save the notebook screen.

Gee, Thanks, Paypal!

So, Paypal suspect fraudulent activity on my account, 'cause someone sent me a BIG donation. They've frozen my account.

Couldn't have happened at a better time, eh? I e-mailed the landlord to give him the good news last night. Now I get to retract that, 'cause I'm SURE this will take WEEKS to resolve. Fuckers.

Thankfully, I got a payment for a Photoshop job today (in the mail), and sold a GPS tracking setup to a guy who just bought a scooter to replace his stolen one, yesterday... so the food and kitteh maintenance can continue. I have just enough to do laundry, so I will be okay for Tuesday's interview.

Man, it's been a weird, wild May.

Mom and Me

THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMETH RIGHT TO MAN, BUT THE END THERE OF IS D EATH. GOD'S LAW IS WHAT MATTERS AND WHEN HE SAYS A THING IS WRON G, THEN IT IS WRONG. YES HE WILL HAVE THE LAST WORD ON EVERYTHING THAT IS D ONE ON THE EARTH...GOOD OR BAD. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERANCE THOUGH. WE HAD A wonderful time in Tatum, TX. last night....They had a cook out & we sang for 40 mins. hey gave us $100.00 . The food was great too. That was four singings this week that we did. The new CD sounds good too . Now to get it finished for sale. Ha ve a good day...love, Mom
I don't disagree, Mom -- I just don't want that chocolate in my peanut butter. Freedom means what it means... free will is free will, and if we start trying to enforce God's law on Earth, we have more in common with the Taliban than I would have ever thought.
Honey it is not enforcing GOD'S will....it is GOD'S law. Since He made everything...He won't change His law for anyone. It is the ONE thing we can count on. About the only thing right now. We can do our FREE WILL thing all we want, but when it is all over GOD'S law will still be in force, it will not have changed one bit. You can count on that. I've got washing going so I must run. Love, Mom
Mom,

Please, slow down! Please, re-read what I wrote.

You've misinterpreted what I said.

I don't expect God to change ANYTHING. I only want to express to you
that *my* beliefs are that as humans, with free will to do what we
will, WE are SOLELY responsible for out actions, in THIS life AND the
next... and I would have it NO OTHER WAY.

Again, this is what I understand to be FREEDOM, upon which our great
nation was formed. Freedom does NOT equal "doing the right thing, all
the time." Most people abuse freedom, to some degree, at some point.
But if it doesn't violate *man's* law, it is LEFT TO GOD TO JUDGE, and
not to us. It would be arrogant and presumptuous, in my opinion, to
act as "God's police force," as the Taliban acts in THEIR belief that
they have the right to do so. They are extremists, as anyone, in my
opinion. who believes that they can apply God's law unquestionably to
society, is. There is no room for that in a FREE society, period.

I don't think there's any room for religious police in America, and I
would fight them to the death, if anyone were to try to put suchan
enforcement mechanism in place. Our country was formed and is based on
many differing, yet quite similar beliefs, and that is, in my mind, as
it should be. The fact that we *don't* all believe the exact same
things are the SOURCE of our strength, and I suspect it is as God
would have it, because no other nation has successfully existed with
this apparent paradox before ours.

I believe that God has blessed us so greatly BECAUSE WE, almost alone
in the world, are FREE to understand Him and His wisdom on our own
terms, rather than being oppressively forced into believing as the
government/officials would have us believe. Do you disagree?

Love you much, and DEEPLY appreciate the respect you are showing me in
our discussion.

xoxoxoxo,

-Jeff

Mom and Me

Hope all is well with you. I have been waiting to hear from you. Hope you didn't get too upset with me. I was born & came through the dep ression and Think a lot different than the youmger people. I just don't like what I see happening to our country. We are loosing our freedoms very fast. We just finished our 5th. C/D project. It went really well. Must run for now.....Write soon. Love you buddy, Mom
Mom,

You supported politicians who thought it was okay to spy on American
citizens, even while they SAID it wasn't happening -- I didn't.

You supported politicians who thought it was okay to imprison American
citizens indefinitely, without charge, without trial -- I didn't.

You supported politicians who thought it was perfectly fine to use the
Department of Justice to go after political opponents, and to fire
those in the DoJ who would not go along with that horribly un-American
activity -- I didn't.

I don't think you have a lot of leeway to talk to me about "lost
rights." I would hope you could admit that you don't look into these
"earthly matters" as closely as I do, because your beliefs tell you
that is unnecessary.

I know you don't agree, because of your beliefs. I respect that -- I
really do! -- but I can't pretend that it's in any way rational, or
that it matches up with easily-researched facts.

xoxoxo,

-Jeff
So your president don't lie ??? I think so....That he bleives in Abortion, gay rights, same sex marriages....etc. (a lot more) Do you really stand for this ???? Do you really ???? I'm not happy with most of them in Washington....They are all money hungry. Guess we will make it though....just readajust. I stand for what is right.... Love you, Mom
Mom,

I didn't say OUR president doesn't lie (yes, he's YOUR president too,
since Texas hasn't seceded YET! ha).

I said you supported politicians who did what I said they did, and
that is true. I won't repeat what I already said, as you have it in
writing, and can re-read it, if need be.

Like most people, I'm sure Obama does lie, at times. So far, he hasn't
lied us into any wars, so I'm willing to give him that much. So far,
I'm pleased at where he seems to be steering the ship of state, and
hope he will continue listening to the people, as he seems to have
been doing, so far. That's his job, and he seems to be doing it
well... 65% of Americans think that's the case, today.

As for the other issues, I feel that it's not for ME to judge people
on the decisions they make in living their lives -- that's between
them and God, and I have no business in it, period, whether it's a
choice I would make, or not. Likewise, I don't think the government
needs to interject itself into that equation, either, AS LONG as we're
talking about ADULTS who have informed CONSENT. It's THEIR choice how
they conduct themselves. That's the *literal* meaning of FREEDOM...
freedom to even make the wrong choices, if that is how they choose.

I personally think abortion is horrible, but what would be worse (and
history tells us this) is making it illegal. Like alcohol, the only
thing worse than legal alcohol is prohibition -- these well-meaning
interferences in social policy have MANY unintended bad consequences.

I support all efforts to reduce abortion, but that necessarily involves a concerted effort to educate young people about not just abstinence, but also contraception. It's not realistic to think that young people will NOT have sex, and I feel certain you agree with me on this, given our past discussions. In this, as all cases, knowledge is power. I think we also need to open up opportunities for adoption that have not been open, before. It takes FOREVER for a couple to adopt a baby in this country, and that's just wrong. These adoption agencies pretend that "the perfect is not the enemy of the good," while any two idiots with functioning reproductive organs can have a child any time they like, whether they have the resources and potential to raise a child, or not!

I feel sure that legal gay marriage in all 50 states will happen in my
lifetime, because it's a civil rights issue. It's not something I
concern myself with, but I find it impossible to justify denying them
the same rights that anyone else has... inheritance, insurance,
visitation in a hospital, etc. If their existence is a sin, again,
it's between them and God, and not for me or anyone else to pass
judgment, in my opinion. Their ability to marry won't affect me in any
way, whatsoever. I DO know that sexual attraction is not a CHOICE -- I
had no choice in being attracted to women -- it just *was*, and that's
how God made me, I suppose. I can't imagine anyone *choosing* to be
other than heterosexual, as hated and persecuted as homosexuality has
been, throughout history... even through today.

I also feel I stand for what is right -- meaning that I don't advocate
for anyone (especially the government) making decisions for
individuals OTHER THAN the individual, themselves. That's what freedom
means, and it's sometimes scary -- not everyone will decide, properly,
in my mind. But it's not for me to sit in judgment of them. I don't
fear freedom -- I welcome it.

xoxoxoxo,

-Jeff

Echo Chamber: Now With Even MORE Echo!

Well, folx, this graphic has finally pushed ol' Rusty ("serr8d" -- clever, typically-winger macho name evoking a bladed weapon -- ooh, how original) off the deep end. He's blocked my ability to comment at tennesseefree.com, where I used to get my daily quota of pointing and laughing. I still do, actually, but I'll have to share the pointing and laughing over here, from now on, it seems.  :)  That's cool -- it probably needed a wider audience, anyway.

I e-mailed Glen Dean, just to let him know that his ideal of "... a website created by a middle Tennessee political junkie for the purpose of encouraging and promoting the free exchange of ideas among Tennesseans" had been hijacked by an impotent blowhard who's simply frustrated that my blog has no such mission statement, and that I therefore regularly reject his many humorous comments about my cats' litterboxes and my horrible photograpic skills. He's spent many hours combing the net to gather my comments from other sites, and sharing them over there, in a sadly-misguided attempt to shame or intimidate me, but now he'll have to do it without my being able to address it in the same forum.

Brave Sir Rusty!
