I just loved this particular pose... I was putting together the Sticky Kim video footage for DVD encoding, and looked over my shoulder, and there he was. This is the first time I've seen him lay across the corner of the rail, like that. Luckily, the camera was at hand, and he stayed there long enough for me to take the snap. .
pg: A lot of us have some overhang--not as pretty and "tabby", perhaps.....
Myself, included! ;) However, I'm gonna walk to the store, this morning, and see what kind of trouble I can find along the way... maybe take the camera. .
My vet said they actually refer to that as the "tabby pouch." I looked at him and said, "Dude, Harry's wearing a backpack the wrong way, then."
My aunt's late cat (oh what a beeyotch, the cat not the aunt) had a huuuuuge gut. My uncle once said, "Okay, (wife), we've got to play more with the cat and get her some exercise. Look at her belly." Aunt said, "Those are just fatty deposits." Uncle looked at her, cocked an eyebrow, and said, "I think we need to call the FDIC for her, then, and get her federally insured."
badomp BOMP. He'll be here all week.
We loves you, Curly. There's no shame in you and Harry buying your britches in the Husky section! More to snuggle!

I've honestly not seen a fixed male cat of ANY type that doesn't have this belly issue -- unless it's been turned loose to fend for itself, and isn't eating at all. To beat it all, Curly's very, very active for an indoor cat. I typically feed him 1/2 cup of dry food, 2x/day, and he's very happy with that amount... but he's not been eating well the last few days. I just switched him to a new food, and he doesn't seem to care for it. .
There was a long discussion of kitty bellies on an editors' list not long ago, and we decided it was an evolutionary improvement to give kitties plenty of flexibility -- like the pleats in the back of hunting coats -- so they can really stretch out in a fast run and catch the speediest prey. Yeah, that's the ticket. Flexibility. Run faster. Better hunter. (As if my big kitty runs after anything faster than a stray kibble.)

Mmm. Ahh. Well, there is a a bit of 'overhang' there.
I'm sure it's just the light.
One of my new cats is getting a bit plump, having to cut back on feedings.
Happy Birthday!

I'm telling you, he can use that to crush his prey!
