egn -- Curly has no issues with the heat, really. If he's really hot (and it has to be well above 90F inside for him to even notice), he'll go lay on the bathroom tile. More often than not, he'll lay right on my feet, even in this miserable heat. :) .
Some random comments: The scooter sounds like a great idea, and would enable you to take a job that's more than walking distance away. I agree 82 is a comfortable temp, if the humidity is out of the air. That's what I've been keeping my thermostat on most of the time. I don't know if you were around Eschaton when I was talking about my father being hospitalized. Anyway, he's out now, and in a nursing home (which he hates) but I was glad he was someplace with good central air during last week's heat wave. They keep it really chilled in that place, with all the old folks. We get all types of restaurant combos here in the East, with Thai/Japanese/Chinese. But my favorite is the ubiquitous Chinese/Spanish places all over Manhattan. Some of the cheapest places to eat in NY, and it's a great blend, you can get fried rice, egg rolls, fried plaintains, Cuban black beans all together.
