Jeffraham, I got Conservatives Without Conscience from my library yesterday.
The Preface is fascinating. Dean refers to the "vile attacks" by the wingers, and other most satisfying language.
Chapter One is harder, more densely packed, but told me something I didn't know. Today's conservative ideology has no intellectual history. It has no roots in long past thinking, not even Edmund Burke's!
These people are completely full of bullshit when they try to claim an intellectual history for their destructive ideas.
John Dean is a treasure. Hope you enjoy his book as much as I am. Scritches to Curly.

Love cats. My wife doesn't, so we have dogs, two rescued boxers.
As for your Toshiba, I'll send you an enclosure, they're $10-$15 bucks, no skin off my nose.
I've been a lurker at Eschaton for a long time. I don't usually post anything since people are already saying what I would say.
E-mail your ship-to if you want the enclosure: gmontjr-at-hotmail.com
