Off

Yeah, yeah... offline, again. While MAC-mocking tricks have allowed me access, the signal's been non-existent in the condo... and rain has prevented 'Stangtop blogging for the last few days. Being flat-busted has prevented a bus ride to Cafe Coco. I'll finish Conservatives Without Concience this weekend, I'll return it to the library on Monday, and probably have a few hours of access from there, but posting will be light-to-none for a while, I suspect.

So... let's load up on Curly!

Given that I don't seem to be making any headway on a job here, and that I'm falling short of rent each month, I'm seriously having to consider my mom's offer for me to move in with her and her husband in Whitehouse, Texas (just outside Tyler). Maybe someone in their church circle can help me find work... I dunno. All I know is that nothing's working out here. Of course, Curly's not welcome at Mom's, so I will need to reach out to my Nashville homies, and find the boy a good home before I go.

I'm sorry to not sound upbeat -- I try always to put a good face on things, but I'm losing hope. On the bright side, I'm at least a notch above losing the will to live. :)

Blessings to you and Curly. I truly believe that you will both land in the best possible circumstances. You and Curly are honorable creatures.
I had to let go of my dear, sweet cat for two years. We were eventually back together for ten years. Strange and incomprehensible circumstances do happen. I wish you the best dear heart.

I hope things take an upturn soon, JP. Have you thought about maybe barista-ing at the cafe? Places like that are always looking for dependable people -- and it might be a spot to find some more webdesign side gigs.

Good luck to you & Curly both.

I'm glad someone offered Curly a home temporarily till you get back on your feet, JP. On the plus side, I think (and believe) it will happen, and soon. Look in the mail, meanwhile, and don't lose the will to live and continue. The love of a good Curly sure helps, in bad times. Oh, and please send email when you're offline like that, you had me scared and worried!

left rev. -- Bless you, but the situation is more one of getting him from TN to TX than anything else.

ThePoliticalCat -- When I'm offline, I'm offline -- no e-mail, or anything! That's another worrisome thing about TX -- my mom has no real Internet access. She has a "Mailstation," which is a proprietary e-mail appliance. She's afraid of the actual Internet, as she thinks it will invade her home and turn her into a homosexual. :-/

No public access Net at the local library??? Whooo. It was nice being able to access yahoo mail at least when the power went down (as it often does, here, during the winter). Gnashvegas doesn't offer that, huh? Well, I'll have to learn to be less of a worrywart, then. Be well, JP and CurlyQ.

Jeff -- believe me, I can really empathize with you. At age 44, I lost my job of 20 years and couldn't find work withint the period of time I had severance coming in. Finally had to pack everything into storage and move back with Mom for about 5 years. I've been back in my own place now for a few years, but I remember how I felt about moving home. My Mom's an arch conservative and we didn't get along eye to eye on that for sure!

The only thing I can say about it is that I discovered some wonderful things about my relationship with my Mom that I hadn't known when I was growing up with her. There were upsides to the whole thing, despite occasional political and semi-religious arguments. Also, sharing a one-bedroom apartment for a couple of years was a challenge until we moved to a two-bedroom for several years after that.

Sometimes the things that seem unbearable turn out to be o.k. for awhile.

Even so, I hope and pray you find a job you like and can stay with Curly-boy in Nashville!

ThePoliticalCat -- Yes, there's gree WiFi at the library, even... but since I couldn't drive there, and it was raining, it's tough to tote a notebook (even in a nylon carrying case) that distance without major water damage. :-/
