They Write Letters

Dear Mr. Prestonian,

Thanks for writing to me with your concerns about the reliability of
electronic voting machines.

I share your concerns, which is why I'm co-sponsoring the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act. I believe this legislation will fix some of the flaws in our voting system that first came to light in the 2000 election and are continuing to undermine citizens' confidence in the election process.

Accessibility and reliability in the voting process are crucial to democracy. This bill seeks to address those issues by providing a "paper trail" for citizens to verify their votes at the election booth, as well as other measures.

You may also be interested to know that a Nashville company, TruVote, makes a vote verification technology that would help maintain the paper trail required by this bill. It's nice to see a Nashville company providing such a useful and necessary service to the nation.

The benefit of your perspective is very important as I do my job as your Congressman, and I thank you again for taking the time to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Sincerely,

Jim Cooper
Member of Congress
.
