Not Exactly the "Brown Acid" UPDATED

UPDATE: I called WTKR-TV, where the story was reported on 9/10/2008, to see if there had been any update on what caused these folx to fall ill. A lady named Cindy said there had been no follow-up, and that if they haven't posted an update on their website by next week, to call back.

UPDATE II (9/12/2008, 12:20 p.m. CDT): Just got off the phone with Fairfax County F&R, office of public information officer Daniel L. Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt was gone for the day, so I was promised a callback today from someone else in the office.

UPDATE III (9/12, 12:35 p.m. CDT): Got a callback -- sez the City of Fairfax F.D. was the responding agency, and was given their PIO number. Left VM for Asst. Chief Tim Butters. Unconfirmed speculation by contact was that the audience was "... likely largely made up of older people..." and the illness reported "... could be weather-related."

UPDATE IV (9/12, 5:58 p.m. CDT): Tim Butters did leave me a voicemail. I had to be away from the phone for a few hours this afternoon. He left me his direct number, so I'll call Monday.

According to this AP article, this was the McCain't/Palin' campaign's largest-attended event.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a call of several sick people at Wednesday's McCain-Palin Rally. Emergency crews transported several patients to a local hospital after they suddenly became ill.

Over a dozen patients were evaluated at the scene. There is no word on symptoms or what may have caused the people to become ill at this time.

Proving once and for all, it is possible to overdose on bullshit.
