Does he recognize you, or was he just being polite?

He started crying from the recesses of Meghan's room as soon as he heard my voice. He knows Dad. Trouble is, he was "trapped" by his fear of the big, dumb, happy, harmless dog, Milo. Milo immediately wanted to show me where all the good jewelry was, but when I ignored him and went straight to the meezer, he tagged right along, scaring the shit out of LarryFlowers. Funny.

I think they remember smell more than anything, but he certainly knew my voice, as well. He really wanted to come into the living room where I was, but was afraid of Milo (who is completely harmless, but rambunctious). He would sneak out and look around the corner, but as soon as Milo came into his view, he was off like a shot, back to Meghan's bedroom. Ivy let Milo and Tiny out (the two goggies), and then LF decided he could cautiously come out to visit Dad.

I think kitties remember looks, as well. Our sweet lil Frango, who passed away at the age of 17, had been a feral kitten, brought in at the age of ~6 months by a young woman with dark hair, dark eyes, soft voice -- a colleague of mine, from whom we adopted him, shy little woodland creature that he was. Years later -- I mean *years* -- a visitor came to our house, a young woman with dark hair, dark eyes, and a soft voice, and even though she was a stranger, our little Frango took one look at her and *adored* her. He did all his cutenesses for her as we sat in the living room chatting. He gave her the long slow blink "I love you." I had never seen anything like it. Kitties remember people who've been kind to them, no doubt about it.

Larry Elvis Flowers will remember and love his dad as long as he lives <3

This makes me cry happy tears. He'll never forget his daddy, even though he's very very happy getting much love and kindness from his new family. His daddy's the reason he's such a good and happy kitty, after all.

Much love to you all.
