Yes -- there is WiFi signal in the Curly Condo again!
Now, what do you think: Should I poke around a bit, maybe leave my neighbors notes, offering to secure their network in exchange for a couple of months of access (and then a splitting of the bill, thereafter)?

I would let well enough alone. If you're ever caught claim ignorance. It is a form of theft I suppose, but it is your neighbor's fault for not being more careful. And he probably won't want to share an account. People kind of like the privacy they have on the net; he will be too afraid you will be able to track which sites he visits.

ql in ny -- Well, it's not so much "getting caught" that I fear -- it's lack of reliable access, and just plain honesty, really. I mean, just because my neighbor leaves his garden hose out, I wouldn't wash my car with it, y'know (okay, bad analogy -- the neighbor gets charged nothing extra for my use of his WiFi). But you're right -- it could freak someone out to get a note like that, eh? Funny thing -- his WAP is wide open; I can see logs/stats on it, right now, if I wanted to. :)

This comes under the same category as you move into an apartment, and are getting some cable channels you're not paying for because the company neglected to cancel the previous subscriber's access. If you really want to offer to split the bill, why not wait till you get a secure job before offering?
