Licking a spot bald is not a symptom to ignore. Curly has to be really bothered by that area to lick it so much. If you love this guy, take him to the vet. When my cat did this much licking, it was cause a cancerous tumor was under the bald spot. An operation gave Bumblefoot two more good years before he died. Or it could be something simpler. Do go to a vet.
polly -- I appreciate your concern, and I'd love to, but unfortunately, I've spent 28 of the last 30 months without an income of any kind. My own health concerns have also had to go unaddressed.
I still have to suspect it's a skin condition, as he does it every winter, and stops when the heat is shut off for the season... and, he chooses a different spot to lick, each winter. .
