... by a male cardinal, who's far too close to the open window for my comfort (merely because Curly is striking those "I know I can make that leap!" poses). He's found a new hole to the outside, and them red birdies are just soooo yummy-lookin'. .

Okay, now I'm worried. Can't you get one of those screen-insert thingies?
ivytree -- No worries. Cats have tens of thousands of years of genetic education. They know they can't fly -- although they do often survive falls from this height, unplanned. He won't leap out, even when he tightens the mainspring. ;) .
