Future Home of West Gnashvegas' Next WiFi Cafe?

Only time will tell, but the wheels turn... they turn...

UPDATE: In principle, Andy (Sahib's boss) has agreed to make minor improvements to lease me the place for one year, @ $1/month, and 50% of net profits. It's win-win for him, since it's 2200 square feet that's earning him NOTHING right now (or since 2003). I have to get contractors to quote a partial raised floor, repair of both bathrooms, and an area where I can sell pre-packaged foods and coffee.

For me, it's a base of operations... high traffic, high visibility (with that sign? mutherflocker, please!). I need to buy some inexpensive tables, chairs, and pay to modify the sign... but "Dutch Maid Cafe" would work, no?

UPDATE II: I'm supposed to return a call to Vandy's External Affairs office at Peabody College for an interview, tomorrow!

French Maid Cafe and you have a winner.

Is this along White Bridge somewhere? My mental picture of west Nashville is not what it used to be. I moved to Alabama a year or so ago and don't get up there so much these days, but next time I do I'll definitely look you up... provided I can figure out where you are.

As far as old Dutch Maid signs go, you'll probably want to see this.

Good luck! :)

theodoric -- It's on Robertson Avenue, which is two blocks north of White Bridge and Charlotte, then west for about 1.5 miles. Robertson roughly parallels Charlotte, with I-40 between the two. It comes to a dead end at the Cumberland River, near a limestone quarry (and very near my condo).

Heh! Looks like someone mass-produced those signs! :)

Leave the sign as is, very unique.

Retro fit 'cafe wi-fi' on the 'cleaning' portion and run with it.

hey, jp -

Good luck with the interview at Peabody. I believe I still know some folks over there in External Relations (I knew the former development director there and met others ... I've interviewed for development jobs at Vandy, too, and I got my M.Ed. at Peabody), so if I can help in any way, let me know.

And "Dutch Maid Cafe" works for me.

Are you still going to do the cafe? That sounds like a great deal on the rent.

Jackson -- That is the plan. It may be mid-2007 before it gets up and running, but if Andy'll pay for the mods, I'll do the rest (including any labor I can add to the retrofitting of the space, of course). The Vandy gig is temporary, so they say... but they have no end date in mind, so... who knows?

I can work 18 hr. days for a while, anyway. It's good for ya, as long as you LIKE what you're doing!

Sounds great. That rent is too good of a deal to pass up. Maybe the Vandy gig will last just long enough for the cafe to become profitable.
