Three-Day Weekend (Or More)

Whoo-hoo!

There's something to be said about starting an academic job in late December. ;)

Life is good. Life is VERY, VERY GOOD.

And thank you so much, Soprano, for buying lunch today! After 1/5/07, I'll get ya back, of course! You name the place -- nothing's too good for you, doll.

See, this is going overlooked, even though I've mentioned it: Were it not for two Atriots, I would not have what I must now consider to be a Dream Job. The two? Litz and Soprano, two of the finest Gnashvegan ladies to EVER haunt Eschaton. Litz got word of the job posting, and her initial e-mail forward appeared as if there were going to be plenty of people in the running for the job. I applied within minutes of receiving that e-mail from Litz, of course. Then, I asked Soprano if she knew these people, since I knew she worked at Vanderbilt. She didn't, but e-mailed my soon-to-be interim immediate supervisor with glowing praise, and then e-mailed me to let me know that the supervisor would like a direct e-mail of my resume and cover letter, which I immediately provided.

The rest, as they say is history. ;) I was hired without an interview, and that would not have happened without the intervention of these two fine ladies, IMO.

Congratulations on a job where you can use your talents.

We're so happy for you, and Curly and LarryElvis.
Curly is a sweetheart of a fellow to accept the little interloper so calmy. Really kindly of you to get Curly a companion, since you'll be away so much.

The best part is that now you've got your foot in the door at Vanderbilt.

That's the road to a permanent job.

flg -- Whether or not it is warranted, I'm pretty jazzed knowing that the temp job has no end date -- not even one year, hence -- none, whatever.

Thanks, folx -- I'll be putting up a mini photo set of shots I took today on the Peabody campus, this evening. I love it here, so far...
