One of my personal points of joy is that I have never hit /killed a squirrel--they're alway trying to commit suicide by running in front of cars--autumn is the worst--maybe I could suggest they all make resolutions to stay out of the street. That goes for all animals.
My alma mater is renowned for its "aggressive squirrels" throughout campus. I saw a girl freak completely out one lovely autumn afternoon on the front steps of the old student union when a squirrel sauntered up to her, reached over and peeked in her backpack, then sat back on its haunches and squeaked at her, clearly saying, "So where's mine, biyotch?"

Curly looks like he's enjoying his new roommate. And he's grown a fine thick winter coat, a sign of a well cared for feline.
