It sucks. Steve Gilliard is gone. I've missed the feisty guy ever since he took ill, again. Such a shame... far too young to leave. .

Sometimes, life seems rather pointless. All the knowledge, the experiences, memories and so forth that were a part of Steve are gone. Like a light bulb that has burned out, never to light up again. Maybe that's a big reason people cling to the thought of an afterlife, but that's really just wishful thinking.

GeorgeM -- I think Steve had an impact. Maybe not as large as he or you or I would have liked, but he made one.
And having never been dead (that I can recall, anyway), I can't really speak to the "wishful thinking" aspect, although I suspect you're right.

Yes, Cats do help.
And that is the best pic of Curly you've taken in a long time. He looks as if he is inviting a neck scratch.
It's infuriating when the good die young, and the vampires live long, with the best of medical care.
Usually on the taxpayers' dime.
He will be missed.
