Of course, I slept in... until almost 8:45! Them bunch of yahoos made me get drunk, last night, y'know.
Not a crust of bread to eat in the casa, and no pank sugar for my coffee, so the Saturday routine (Scottish opium burritos!) continues. I just can't be in a hurry to get there.
Left: Won't start, waiting for parts. Right: Always starts, can't go more than 35mph downhill.
Scottish opium burritos await!
... as does a new DVD release. What'd I get? Well, I wanted Hot Fuzz or Fracture, but neither were available (hey, who told folx about my secret DVD rental box?). So, I got The Contract, instead.
The new shopextravaganza! On up the hill, to that little French shoppe, Target.
The Vino, in front of Le Target.

Okay, now I am caught up on the Saga of the Scooters. I knew about two of them--Chinese Death Machine of late lamented thievery-interrupted memory, and the Kymco, apparently on the DL at the moment.
Somehow I missed hearing about the silver one. Was asking at the House of Gray about this discrepancy last night but evidently you had (1) left or (2) refuse to answer questions anywhere but here so as to drive up your Comments list.
Not that I would ever accuse anybody of such a thing. Oh my no.
:)
--xan (still anon cuz Google/blooger hates me)
xan -- The history:
CDM -- Bought right after Election Day, 2006. Stolen in February, 2007, while sittenpretty was visiting, during the coldest weather we'd had here in a long time. It was broken-down, and left at Sahib's for a couple of days. A victim of a lift-n-grab theft.
2004 Yamaha Vino 50 -- Bought in April, 2007, from a fellow Vandy person, for $1000. I knew it was too slow to use as a commuter, but thought I might get some use out of it. Its top speed with me on it is about 25mph on level ground (and that takes a while to get there). I am now using it to get to the bus stop to get to/from work, while the Kymco awaits repair.
2007 Kymco Agility 125 -- Bought in June, 2007, new from dealer. It's going in for its second warranty repair on the same problem, as soon as parts arrive. It's awesome, when it will start... 60+mph, ~90mpg.

Thanks jp...I fear you are going through the same thing I did when I bought my first Subaru in ...geez, mid '70s or thereabouts? The brand was new in the US relatively speaking and VERY new in the Midwest (e. central IL). Nobody wanted to work on it and nobody carried parts; if anything seriously mechanical broke down you had to wait forever for it to be shipped in from Yokohama or whatever.
You would think that with overnight shipping being as nearly universal and relatively cheap as it is, these problems would have lessened somewhat. Especially if this dealer really wants to make bux selling what sounds like a *spectacular* machine for intown people-moving in these days of gas prices & shit.
Oh well. Hope he gets his rear in gear and your rear on the Kymco pronto. :)
ps I almost never comment at Atrios before midnight because by the time I get to the end of a thread there's a fucking new one! What's the point of reading there if you don't go through the comments, that's what that blog IS.
regards &c. --x
xan -- Well, Kymco's been in the U.S. for almost a decade, but apparently, a lot of parts have to come from South Carolina, where the HQ for KymcoUSA is (Kymco, Inc. (Taiwan) just bought a 50% stake in KymcoUSA, I hear, so that will probably help with parts and brand recognition, over here). I can't say a single bad thing about my dealer, James Duer of East Side Scooters. He's more than willing to set things right, but right now, it's just a wait for the parts to arrive. He's ordered an entire carburetor, even though he suspects it's just the auto-enrichener than needs replacing.
