Humpday Hash
![]() |
| Wow... got lucky with this shot of Amelia, who is now causing kitten terror in her new Forever Home! |
![]() |
| Isn't that lovely? It simply screams, "EAT ME!" to this guy. |

| 'Melia's handiwork (pawdiwork?). This, at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning was what started my day. I couldn't go back to sleep. |

| S'ok, though. I EFFIN' LOVE EGGY BURRITOS! I plan to reproduce that image, btw. |

If Only We Could Get This For Assholes
On Curly?
Very effective. Drains all the stress out of him in seconds. Or has, so far. Used it to introduce Moe, and again with Lord Kelvin (Kevin) and 'Melia.
On Amelia? She doesn't care if it snows apple butter. :) She's a toddler, and has a great and gregarious disposition.
On Kevin? No change in his behavior. Still hiding. I would not have believed he could fit under the vice mayor's ex-chair, but he can, and has been there since the last time I couldn't find him, in the wee hours of Sunday morning. He's come out to eat, drink and poop, though. The darkness must be more comfortable for Kevin. He seems to suffer from bilateral mydriasis, which is permanently dilated pupils which can be caused by many different conditions/traumas, some gravely serious. His vet prior had no concern about it, so... dunno.
Now, because I am an idiot, I have to re-home both Kevin & 'Melia. The landlady objects to cats, in general, even though our original handshake deal on renting this house from her included moving in with Curly & LarryElvis, and she charged what she considered to be a fair damage deposit for both cats. I thought it was on the low side, and I won't argue the point that I took in these two cuties without consulting her beforehand, 'cause I was stupid enough to do exactly that. This is a case where begging forgiveness wasn't going to cut it, so I will make it right this week. It's my own damned fault.

What He Eats, Now

| Dinner tonight, yo. With garlic & onion powder, and Parmesan. 112 calories, and very little sodium. Dessert was two 6oz. servings of Aldi non-fat yogurt, peach and blueberry. Helluva meal, IMO. |

Weight, Weight... Don't Tell Me
I'm fat. I've known that for a looooong time! I finally decided to do something about it.
If you're a believer in the BMI, I am presently at the low end of obese. Still, that's fat. My aim is to get to the high end of normal (168lbs. would be just fine, not that I'll settle for that when I get there, but we'll see how it looks on me) on or before 6/21/2015, my 52nd birthday. We're looking at roughly one pound per week, which seems reasonable. The goal here is to build a sustainable diet and exercise program to insure that I stay somewhere between 163-168lbs. until I die.
I was afraid that this would be difficult, but it hasn't been, so far (today's a week, people). I haven't been ravenously hungry, and I haven't denied myself any foods yet. Mainly, I'm selecting better foods, but not always (see, the nutritionist above says those McD's breakfast burritos are too salty!), and I'm being choosy about carbs. But in general to start, my main target is to stay 500 calories or more BELOW what I burn in a day. And not be ravenously hungry. :)
I'm doing some physical activity, too, but I don't plan to push that nearly as hard until I lose the first ten pounds. Isotonic upper body stuff (to build muscle mass), walking, and vigorous cleaning at work will keep me active until then.
So, I'll be posting photos. Not nekkid, and not soon, but when there's something to see. ;) Sorry to bore you.

Because You Can't Smell Me
... I have a confession to make. I started smoking again, some time ago. I won't make excuses, other than to say that I was having difficulty resisting the addiction when spending so much time with my two co-workers -- who are literally the last two smokers I know IRL. Well, that's not strictly true... I guess I do know more smokers than that, but I spend very little time with them.
However, the two co-workers have recently quit (one for almost a month; the other starting just this past weekend), and I'm all in for making our workplace completely smoker-free. :) Competition is good. Plus, I can use the extra $37 per pay period for being tobacco-free, right? So!
I bought another e-cig kit about a month ago; this one is a much more substantial system, and cost even less than the first SafeCig kit I bought back in 2011.
It's larger than a cigarette, which has two advantages. First, the battery lasts a stupid-long time (at least a full workday, and generally beyond), and it holds more nicotine-infused "juice," so messing with replacement/replenishment issues is a complete non-issue. Set it up once a day, and Good To Go.
Secondly, you don't get dirty looks from people who think you're sneaking a smoke inside, as nowhere civilized allows smoking indoors, these days.
Anyway, one of the guys at work has had a similar system since the day I started, and one co-worker asked his advice (he's been "vaping" -- yeah, that's what it's called -- for years) and bought a system based on that advice. I followed suit, but I kept forgetting to bring the extra battery, or the charger, or the juice... derp. Then, my "clearomizer" tank started leaking. Despite my intentions to order new shit to supplement/replace these items, it was just easier to go grab a pack of Devil Sticks at Any Goddamned Store On Earth, and continue the undeniable self-destruction.
Lo And Behold! The vaping co-worker-newly-quit alerted me to the fact that a new vapor shop had opened in my neighborhood recently, and tonight, I got what I needed, and have no more excuses. As easy as running to the corner store, it's literally closer than the nearest Kroger. And their prices RAWK.
So, good luck to me. :)

Bernie Madoff I Ain't
I have a bit of a dilemma.
As many of you know, it took me a long time to find this awesome job that I started in March, 2012. Now, because of the crushing boot of the state, I find myself without a vehicle. Fortunately, I've had use of a borrowed spare car for the last month, but that can't realistically continue much longer.
With the attendant horrible credit score and no money saved up, one option would be to buy a car at a buy-here-bend-over-here lot, paying too much for the car, paying way too much interest, and then having to carry insurance that I can't possibly afford on said car. Then of course there's the fuel economy issue, where I would be paying at least double to fuel a car every week compared to what I've spent on Bad Penny's gas (a beater car that gets 35MPG is probably hoping for quite a lot).
So, I would like to propose to my readers this: An investment fund that will yield 15% compounded interest annually which will finance a new Honda PCX scooter. The 2013 PCX150 that Sloan's has in stock can be had for just under $4200, gets over 100MPG, and it's a Honda -- the most reliable machines on the planet. Sloan's also has a 2011 (new, in-crate) PCX125, like the one pictured above, that they are willing to deal on,but I couldn't lock down a price over the phone on it, this morning but $3923 doesn't sound like that great a deal.
If, say, the PCX150 were $4200, and "shares" were made available to you, my friends @ $100 each, each share would pay out $152.09 in August, 2015. I know it's a high-risk proposition, but I would rather pay my friends this money than some sleazy car lot, and I think 15% is a fair return (and less than I would be paying the sleazy car lot for a questionable, overpriced beater of a car).
Anyway, I'm not sure how to get the ball rolling on this, or if enough people would even entertain the idea... I have relied on your kindness far too much over the years. That's why I would definitely only want to do this as a loan/investment deal, if there's enough faith left in me out there to make this happen, that is.
I would welcome all ideas, concerns, criticisms and commentary in the comments, here, if you would be so kind. Thanks.
UPDATE: I think the Italian guy likes it, and I am 10x sexier than that motherfucker.

My Dinner With Andre
This crazy fucker is Andre, my (now-naturalized U.S. citizen) buddy who grew up and lived most of his life in Durban, South Africa. You've probably seen me mention him, before, but we had a falling out a few years back over something completely stupid, and I'm in the frame of mind to stop being stupid and to begin setting things right with people I have wronged in the past. So! We have reconnected, and it's pretty awesome.
The stories he and I could tell about one another would make an entertaining book. Really.
Good to have him back in my life. I missed Andre. Now, to work on James in Columbus.

One Last Thang
... for the weekend.
I have a new Tumblr to share music from Spotify, primarily. It saves us all time, as I don't have to clog your comments with tunes or UTubes. And sometimes, there'll be context, even.

See, ya match two white balls, and what you have there is some landfill material.
Considering this is the saddest moment of my month, I will take it, and LMAO, biotches.

In Other Exciting Weekend News...
Remember this photo from Thursday? Okay, it wasn't this exact photo... I processed it in the phone to make it more contrast-y for today's post. Okay, well, that didn't last long. I was riding home on I-24 Friday evening, and turned my head to glance at an adjacent lane to see if I was clear to switch lanes, and the right lens flew out of the sombitches.
So yesterday, I took them back to Drs. ValuVision, and they will replace at no charge. They're also going to redo both lenses to make the bifocal part +1.5 instead of +2.0, which will make them more comfortable for doing computer work.
Last night's dinner. YUM.
