Feral Farm, Two

Click to embiggen to 1200x900.

I arrive late afternoon on Saturday, about 4:50 p.m. (8h, 50m of trip time, including frequent stops). The wind in SEMO as I was traveling U.S. 60 (which I did not expect to be all but an interstate!) was extremely troubling. I forged ahead, being 80% of the way there, and afraid that if I pulled off to assess the situation, I would turn around and head for home, instead. It was a no-win -- the wind wasn't gonna let up, so... very stressful, those last two hours of riding, I gotta say.

The "lesser half" of our wonderful hosts for the getaway, Feral himself! Enjoying a glass of his excellent wine, and admiring the view of the lake.

Many similar shots of the lake in everyone's photos, I'm sure.

This is one I took this one from down near the barn, where batguano had set up camp. Awesome meadow action on the property.

Finches!

A hummer! Man, these thangs were thick... wait until I post the video. It was not uncommon to see a half-dozen competing for a feeder at one time, all fussing at one another and crashing wing-into-wing, making a sound like paper put into an electric fan.

More to come... here's part one, if you missed.
