It's Been A While Since We Went To Waterworld

Here we see the collectors inside clarifier #4 (the big white PVC pipes running horizontally) ~36" above the tube settlers, which are too fragile to walk on without something to distribute one's weight across more of them. Hence the plywood under the ladder. I'm spraying a very acidic, envirofriendly mixture to clean the crud off everythang.Yes, I am wearing my PPE.

The filters (#5, 6, 7, 8) which you can't really see. The big pipe running into the distance is attached to a truck outside with a huge vacuum rig. The old filter media -- sand, gravel, carbon -- is getting sucked out and is being replaced with new media. This is something that only needs to be done every 20-30 years.

The tops of the tube settlers, with another shot of a bit of plywood used for walking atop them.
