Best New TV Series

First of all, The Expanse. It's as good as Breaking Bad so far, IMO. Maybe better!

Second, they used my new vape tank as a prop!

Man, this series is so good. You have to check it out ASAP.

Bored? Got Netfix?

Allow me to make a couple of suggestions...

In The Loop --  a dark comedy about low-level assistants in the UK & US trying to prevent an Iraq-style invasion which their Feiths & Rumsfelds are hell-bent on perpetrating. Starring the latest Dr. Who  dude (Peter Capaldi) who curses like a BOSS up in heah, as well as the late James Gandolfini, who plays a peacenik JSOC general. This is easily the funniest movie I have seen in a decade.

Ascension -- a six-hour mini-series from SyFy Channel about people who were sent into space on a multi-generational ship headed for Alpha Proxima during the Kennedy admin. Lots of twisties in this one. Easily the best  sci-fi I have seen since the Battlestar Galactica  reboot... speaking of which, starring Tricia Helfer, y'all. You will not see the ending coming.

Only Watch It If It Doesn't Suck

... but after watching the pilot of Nashville, it looks kinda promising. The writing is (so far) pretty good, the acting is spot-on, and none of it was what I expected. And I know it will bring money into town, as it surely already has.

DISCLAIMER: I give less than half-a-shit for country music, period. The machinations of the business, though, can be intriguing (and living here, you hear some pretty juicy stuff, and some really ugly  stuff, so don't blow this off as a totally-unrealistic portrayal of "the biz," even if some of it actually ends up being way overblown... the spirit of it, thusfar, seems plausible).

If you watch it, let me know what you think.

Oh, Katee

I don't really go in for tattoos (got nothin' agin' 'em, but I always lived by the adage, "Why make yourself more identifiable to the police?" -- and this is a guy who's never been arrested), but I have to admit that finding out that Katee Sackhoff did NOT have a futuristic Red Wings tattoo was a bit of a let-down. That's Starbuck's -- not hers. Makeup.

Dr. Who, The New

As seen on SciFi Channel, produced by the BBC, I gather?

I saw it for the first time, last night. At that time, I'm usually watching Bill Moyers' Journal, but his guest last night was Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and I could see no reason to watch something so irrelevant to me. Besides, if someone said I needed to see it, PBS.org has it online, right? So...

Who! Who?

Question: When I used to watch Tom Baker in the role, the episodes were mini-serials. Has this changed? Are these episodes all self-contained in 46 minutes?
