walkin' gal -- Thanks. The back's a lot better, actually... I hurt it last night, carrying lumber in for the balcony rehab. I just turned the wrong way, carrying in the decking. This morning, it was REALLY bad, so I took the day off to lay flat for a while, and that's helped a lot. .
As it will probably be 1 ayem before I catch the end of an Atrios thread before the next one already has 100+ comments on it, I came over here to answer
A USED 2001 Honda Reflex w/14K miles. It's a few hundred dollars more, no warranty... but it's a Honda! And the engine is twice the size of the Kymco, and liquid-cooled.
You want the Honda. Consider the lesson of the CDM--the Midwest/midsouth is not the area in which you want to buy, try to license/register/insure, or try to get parts for or repairs done, on obscure brands of motor vehicles.
Everybody knows what a Honda is. Dealers are everywhere. A pimply-faced kid with a semester of high school mech classes can work on it. Many sources of information if you'd rather do it yourself.
Besides, you sound like you want it more. :)
