First PNW Homemade Eggy Burrito!

I stopped by Goodwill on the way back from the doc's visit today, and for $8, I found a very unusual hotplate!  It worked, so mine.

I'm not so great with non-non-stick cookware, huh?

I'd show you a photo of the eggy burrito (2 eggs, onions and ham w/hot sauce), but I inhaled it.  :)  There will be others.

Not For Sale (not that I could even think about it), but a purty one.

10 Print "Hello, world"

20 goto 10

Internet 30 minutes at a time, for now (and using Internet Explorer, of all thangs). Watch for my book in early 2016.  ;)

Made it from Day 0 to Day 8, the latter of which is where my story will start. Gotta go a little Tarintino on ya just to keep things fresh and non-linear.

Can you believe I'm wearing a 34" waist in jeans, today?  I cannot, I tell you now. I haven't been this skinny since senior year of high school, 34 years ago. Even these jeans need a belt if I am to walk (and I will have walked 5-10 miles by day's end, today; I should retrieve Wanda, tomorrow).

Is all well?  Well, no. But they are improving vastly, I must say. Not terribly thrilled with the whole idea of AA meetings seven nights/week to keep a roof overhead, but it beats being eaten by a grue, I suppose. That's how I like to imagine it, anyway. My first meeting was last night, and hey, guess what?  Everyone had to speak to the new guy, telling him how they'd all be running screaming at the evening's topic, which was the Magic Guy in the Sky. Parachutes, open minds... but skepticism, as you know is my natural state.

THANK all of you, and THANK THE FSM that I have friends like you. You especially, Ivy. :) Bob, nashvegasdawg, Sallyh, bluesman and Ed -- damn, I have no words, but I'll find them, soon. I'm going to do better after this reboot, and that's my promise to YOU.

I hope DWD and TV are doing much better, as well as jude9 and any others who I've lost track of in the last couple of weeks. You're all dear to me, and I hope you know that. I'll try to stay in touch here when I can. I can't recall the credentials for CatopiaTN.com just now, but as I have no cats, well... yeah. Progress will be made.

Tough Guy Curly

He tangled with the interloper cat from the early morning air conditioner, as you may recall. Got a cut over his left eye. He's not happy. He growled as I hauled his fat tubby tabby ass inside. I yelled.

Other than that, I cleaned the cut for the 2 seconds Curly would tolerate it, and applied a big goop of Neosporin, after. He's probably pawed/licked that all off by now, the dumbass.

Then, I had turkey balls in pasta sauce and salsa with a pinch of cheese. YUMMO.

Eggnostic Perfection

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium flour tortilla
  • 2 oz diced tomatoes & green chiles (Aldi, Rotel); 1/5th can*
  • 1 oz coarsely diced onion (~1/4" cubes)
  • 1 oz. shredded cheese (Aldi Happy Farms Italian Style shredded, used here)
  • 1 oz. black forest ham
  • 1-2 sec. spray of canola oil (aerosol)
  • pinch ea. of garlic & onion powder (optional, to taste)
  • pinch ea. of red pepper seed and chili powder (optional, to taste)
  • pinch ground black pepper (optional, to taste)
  • 1/2 oz frozen corn (optional)
  • Sprig of cilantro (coarsely chopped; optional)
Drain all liquid from diced tomatoes/chiles. Saute contents of can in 8" saucepan sprayed with canola oil over medium heat until all remaining liquid evaporates. *Reserve 80% of contents of can for future meals. Add frozen corn (optional).

Hold flour tortilla (8") under running water for 1 second, each side. Drain, & place on foil on top rack of oven/broiler. Place three slices of thinly-sliced black forest ham on tortilla, sprinkle cheese on top.

Reduce heat by ~30%. Crack and pan-scramble two large eggs in 8" saucepan containing tomato/chile mix, already reduced. There should be almost no liquid in the pan. Stir in raw diced onion, and garlic, onion and chili powders at this time. Turn on broiler to melt cheese and to toast tortilla very lightly.

Cook until eggs are set, then flip once, and reduce/discontinue heat. Do not brown egg mixture!  Add ground black pepper (optional).

After 1 minute (or when done), remove egg mixture, and place on flour tortilla. Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes, then fold into taco shape and serve with sprig of cilantro. Can be served wrapped in foil square. Handy!

Serves one; 346 calories.

Tabbys' Tuesday

Escapee!  Naw, he's being closely  supervised by Dad.

Off to photo left are the apartments, and a fencerow/treeline through which a senior kitteh could vanish and his hooman could not follow, so... close supervision.

Lord Kelvinator observes from a safe distance.

You're liking this way too much, Curly. My Dog, WHAT HAVE I DONE?!

Smyrna Shanty

The large shed behind my neighbor's, where Wanda can be sheltered.

Sam Ridley Parkway East, with view of the USPS (L) and Thorntons (R). The large empty lot there also belongs to the landlady, and is used for county fair-type activities once a year.

Part of the front of said shanty.

The rest of the front.

Yo Sonic High-Colonic

I went for ice cream, which is stupid. I'm lactose-intolerant. Still, once a year, in the summer, I suffer for the cause!

Me: I'd like a whatever-whatever-yum, a large, please.
Sonic Gal: Okay. Is this your first time?
Me: Um... pardon me?
Sonic Gal: Is this your first time?
Me: Uh. Are you asking if I'm a virgin? I mean, I'm 45!
Sonic Gal: [laughs for a while] No -- I meant, "Have you had this, before?" If not, and you don't like it, I'll let you have something else.
Me: Oh. Well, no -- this is a new one on me, but I'll risk it.
Sonic Gal: [laughs] Okay! Your total is $3.27...

Charlie X

Yes, it's cloudy and blurry... but there's enough sun to let me almost get a blurry shot of L.E.'s actual eyeballs!
