Solstice Swag

My phone only saved about half the photos I know that it took. One was a panoramic shot, and it only takes those after some set-up, and there was visual confirmation afterward!  They aren't visible in the phone's Gallery app. Nor at Google. FAAAAK.

Get to know me!

I was told by the business park guy about this NEW place, which JUST OPENED DAYS AGO.

Click on THAT. Waiting for the panaramic... Lake Leland!

Why am I thinking of Yul Brenner?

A Saturday That Was NOT Caturday

Today's my eleventh day in Washington, and I have yet to pet a single feline. Four dogs, NO CATS.

But, I went to a garden party!

Fog Farm!  Bob's been having this party for over thirty years.

Freak flags: Flown.

Not Spin-Glos.

Also not Spin-Glos.

Much open range, and garden...

... and the kids ran around like little meth addicts.

Three kegs of Port Townsend Brewing's beers... including their very hoppy IPA. I think I preferred the Scotch Ale, of the three. Oh, and recycling and composting for all disposables/reusables.

Horse! (of course)

Spot the Guam. Who wants to ride a Grom.

Did You Worry...

... about my fitting in, here?

Friday Night Report, Finally

14:00 I'm applying for SNAP. I'll get a bit more than $6/day for food, and I might get that much for everything else, but can't be determined until July. With shelter and a scooter, I can do most anything.

Mile 2
Horseback riding next 0.5 mi
Speed Limit 35
Wavy road ahead (TURN RIGHT)

Tootle the horn and drive slowly...
Look for the trees, and turn right.

19:54 I've had a big beer.

20:11 Rain and chill. Early sleep seems the best of all plans! Will have PB on wheat. g'nite!

20:38 Arrived home. Parked the car, carried in my backpack and jacket, fired up some legal weed. Had a Hamm's.

Stepped back outside at 20:50, I heard a vehicle on the road, below, but it was no one for here. Not even casing the joint.

20:54 Started typing up this report. I have the whole first season of The Expanse and the last eight episodes of Breaking Bad on my phone's SD card (Google Play, yay). These, I will fall asleep to until I can afford others, but no matter. I rarely make it past 15 minutes with anything. Strap on, fire up, zzz out.

I'm beginning a weekend, here. Last weekend didn't feel like much of a weekend, honestly. I'm enjoying the minimal work I accomplished this week at the shop, but have learned much. Mr. Guam's band is re-uniting for a party Saturday afternoon, so I'll be there. Legal weed is LEGAL, bitches. Just so we're clear on that. :)

I think I'm in love with Washington, right now. Everyone I have engaged has either been funny, or tried to be funny. I am impressed with the sense of community and belonging. People really try when I tell them I'm from KY/TN, as they peg me as a trusting goober. :)

"Oh! We're as hospitable as NASHVILLE, fuckyeh!" I was told, by Rebecca Thranch-Idaho. "We invested Daddy's money in this head-freezer company that sounded like science fiction to me, but..."

[saved by the bell]

Okay. I think you may have lost an "h" along the way.
I'm enjoying the longest spring of my young life. I'm enjoying every sammitch. This is a nature lover's paradise. There are a lot of raw lands, lovely! Raw lands and tall firs.

I've still yet to pet a cat since I landed. Several dogs, but no kittehs.

WHITE German Shepherd Dog? Neighbor.

Yusef, the blind kitteh. Awwww. Luvit, now. May he be the pet the women need.

All who care for kittehs are my friend. Goggies, too.

Saturday post, next. PARTY!

Port Starboard

Lupins. The place has lupins.

I took my first shower in the PDT. $1/12-minutes of really nice, hot water! I only needed 50 cents.  :)  Pretty clean, but still wore flip-flops. It felt so nice...

I had a good day, I think, and I hope you did, too. I managed to help a little with customers, and even had people stop by before the boss rolled in. Got some lunchmeat and tortillas at the small Krogeralike. Took that back to the shop, and headed off for my coin-op shower, and then back to the cabin in the woods.

Where it is quiet. I mean the birds stop chirpin'. And when it gets dark, the hand in front of your face is obsidian.

I see sailboats every day. Not just the odd one in a yard, but ones that are seaworthy!  I see weed shops, too. I see young women who publish and distribute their own educational comic books. I see lots of bicycles. I see old people, and young. I see giant stone salmon heads popping free of the ground.

They also have Hamm's beer. I haven't had Hamm's in decades. But now I have.

I found a candle in the cabin. I lit it, as it will soon be dark. Trees already shade me from the west. I will go to bed early. But not to silence!  I have episodes downloaded to the phone.  SD cards and batteries are really cool. I will be re-habituated (to falling asleep to previously-viewed programming).

So, the day is late. I'm winding down, tired. I have strained muscles that the surgery cut through. I not only have to enroll in cardiac rehabilitation, I have to learn to take it easy, sometimes.

I came back to town to poop, and to post this. This is life, and life is good.

Just out of bed!  Another excellent night of APAP therapy.

Wood stove.

Inverter and deep-cycle battery for powering said APAP.

Raaaaaaaaa-NEERRRrrrrr-BEEEEEEEER...
I like it here. Gonna be a good thang.

Already got one task finished this morning at the shop, and met one of the building staff and the tenant, next door.

I'll be starting more long-form posts soon, since I'll be doing some of this stuff offline, I'm sure. But now, still busy moving stuff from one place to other places, getting the logistics in place, and hoping for a shower, soon...

Bus Fail

Okay, so... the little trip across town didn't quite work out.

I only had 75 cents in cash, and didn't realize that I could only get my free transfer for a route that ran directly from the depot on the next cycle of routes, and not the route I needed that ran an hour later (wtf?!). So, I used my free transfer to go the wrong direction so I could get cash back from my debit card, and then spend several hours realizing I could not make my errand happen before the last bus headed back to Westwood.

But I got to see redneck graffiti.

And I took a few photos in and around the bus depot.

It used to be a train station, and still is, also.

That's right, people... The Drifters are comin' to big ol' Ashland.

tl;dr

Ashland's floodwall paintings are nice, but not as nice nor as numerous as Portsmouth's.

Pardon me for barging in.

None of these are as cool as the Mercedes-Benz buses they used to run here when I was a kid.

At least the depot has free WiFi.
